To honor the spirit of Kristin Bindl, who always helped the children in her school and community by supporting them and encouraging them to be responsible, respectful, and resilient. Educational awards will be provided to students pursuing a career in school social work, guidance counseling, or teaching.

Kristin dedicated her career to serving children and families as a social worker, making a lasting impact through her work at Children’s Home and Aid Society, Winnebago County Cooperative, Stephen Mack Middle School, and Whitman Post Elementary School. Known for her compassion, kindness, and commitment to helping others, she touched countless lives and left behind a legacy reflected in the many stories of those she supported.

Above all, Kristin cherished her family. Her husband, Travis, and sons, Brayden and Evan, were the center of her world, and she filled their lives with love and devotion. She also shared a special bond with her sisters, family members, friends, and beloved pugs.

Remembered for her infectious smile, laughter, generosity, and vibrant personality, Kristin lived life fully and brought joy to those around her. A loyal friend, sister, daughter, aunt, wife, and mother, she was a bright light in many lives whose impact will be felt for years to come.

Eligibility

Every CFNIL scholarship has a unique intent, often reflecting the background of the donor or person in whose memory the fund was created. CFNIL uses an online "universal" application to ensure the most efficient process; as an applicant, you do not need to predetermine which scholarships you should apply for. Complete ONE application each cycle, and your answers to a series of yes/no and personal background questions automatically match you to every scholarship you are eligible for. Because our scholarships were created to support students of all ages, backgrounds, and aspirations, we encourage every scholarship seeker (high school graduating seniors and older) to apply!

As you complete the application, the system automatically matches you with every scholarship for which you are eligible and will present you with a specific written prompt for each.
