Charles G. Uram was a friend and mentor to many and demonstrated the true value that is derived from volunteering and donating to our community. Chuck will always be remembered by the community and the Rockford Cosmopolitan Club as the person called upon to lead fund drives for many local nonprofits.

Chuck’s spirit lives on through this annual award created to recognize community leaders with Chuck’s style and record of lifetime achievement.

Nominations for the award will be accepted now through March 19, 2018. The Rockford Cosmopolitan Club will select the recipient. The individual selected for the award will be recognized for their efforts on April 26, 2018 at the Rockford Cosmopolitan Club’s Charities Awards Dinner. Last year’s winner was Estelle M. Black.

The organization that nominates the award recipient will receive a $5,000 donation from Rockford Cosmopolitan Charities.

The Cosmos are also accepting applications for the Rockford Cosmopolitan Charities Board Grant. The focus for gifting is to address a specific need or tangible asset, like educational resources, equipment, and room renovations. The main emphasis will be to fund youth programs; and/or organizations involved with prevention, education or research of diabetes but the Cosmopolitan Club will consider all applicants. Grant applications must be received on or before March 31st, 2018.
