Geoffrey R. Laird Memorial Scholarship
Purpose:
To provide educational resources for a young man beginning or continuing a college education in math, science, or computer technology.
Criteria:
To be eligible for funding, an applicant must be a male under the age of 23, who is graduating from high school or is a current college student and pursuing a major in math, science, or computer technology. Minimum GPA is 3.0/4.0. Applicant must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Winnebago County.
Geoffrey Laird’s Bio
June 25, 1983 – October 14, 2000
Geoffrey Laird was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and lived in Indiana and California before moving with his family to Rockford, Illinois. He was a student at Keith Country Day School and Boylan High School, and was involved in music, theater, swimming, and computers. Geoffrey always had a ready smile and laugh, and the ideal candidate for this scholarship will share his enthusiasm for others and his kind spirit.
Application Instructions:
To apply for this scholarship, you must complete an online application and submit a packet of additional materials in hard copy. Both of these components MUST be RECEIVED by the March 1st deadline.
The scholarship packet requires your school counselor, registrar or principal to verify your academic information so be sure to allow sufficient time to submit the application. Incomplete and late applications will not be accepted.
